The music-hall years
In 1887, in Pigalle, La Cigale sang its first song in front of a thousand spectators. It shakes up its range of shows: sketches, dance, music.
Like its prestigious neighbor Le Moulin Rouge, it was hosting famous cancan dancers: La Goulue, Rigolboche etc…
The operettas and vaudevilles followed one another until 1927 with Mistinguett, Maurice Chevalier and Arletty and many more.
Since 1887, La Cigale never closed its doors and kept transforming itself, and renewed through the great advances of its time.
First a café-concert, then a music hall, she becomes “La Cigale Cinema” for 60 years… before to turn into a concert hall in 1987 that we know nowadays.
